Hopefully everyone’s aware that Jonathan Dorn, Editor-In-Chief of Backpacker magazine, offered in the November issue of the magazine to pay the airfare of the first 10 Summit For Someone climbers who reached the $5,000 fundraising mark.
Well, it’s not yet 2009 and we already have one person who’s met that mark.
Longtime SFS climber Greg DuPey of Cordova, Tenn., is the first winner, getting a flight to his climb next summer. Greg’s got lots of gear from his past SFS climbs, so his personal cost to do his climb is likely down to just a hotel room, rental car and food.
